Short project description

The project Brain connectivity in major depression’ in part of a larger project ‘Functional markers of cognitive disorders’ in which five Dutch University Medical Centers and Philips are involved.

The major research aim of the project is to investigate both functional (resting state fMRI) and structural connectivity (Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI)) in healthy volunteers (n=40), healthy volunteers with a family history of depression (n=40) and patients suffering from major depression (n=40). Additional research questions: 1) are low mood and impaired cognition related to brain connectivity in depressed patients, and 2) does brain connectivity change after successful treatment.

I need something that’s light, portable and is at least 13″ in screen size. I’m not a gamer, so my computer will only be used for school work and web surfing. My friend’s friend is willing to sell me an almost brand new macbook for about $550ish, but it doesn’t have a warranty. Should I just buy the macbook or look for PC? Note: my budget is in between $500-600.

I have been told the best to take is anatomy, biochemistry, immunology, neurology, genetics, or pathology. I’ve also been told I have to go to medical school and have some experience supervised by professional doctors before I can become a doctor. What is your opinion on the best major to take in order to be most prepared for becoming a family physician?

I plan to go into physics, hopefully very far into physics. I’m looking for some good leads on colleges to research for this. Thank you.

A major in Biology is general and covers unessary things(ecology…) while Molecular biology is more specific and deals with DNA, genetics and proteins. Which is better for pre-med and why between these two majors?

I took Organic Chemistry I (required)

Now I can choose between Biochemistry or Organic Chemistry II, which is the best choice (as in which is most useful)

I am not worried about which is more difficult, just which will be of most use

Explain the basic parts of a major theme in molecular biology: the pathway of DNA to RNA to proteins. Include a general idea of what occurs at each stage.
