The Department of Health, Ethics and Society is seeking candidates for assistant professor of History of Public Health, Medicine and Health Policy. The candidate will contribute to the interdisciplinary research programme Social and Normative Aspects of Biomedical and Public Health Technologies of the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences by developing research in the field of the history of public health in the Netherlands and in Europe. Acquiring sources of indirect funding of research will be an important task.

Overall Function:
Environmental Defense Fund is looking to hire a full-time Scientist in its Washington, DC office to work on high-priority environmental issues that affect human health.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Serve as integral part of team working toward industrial chemical policy reform by providing scientific and policy support and advocating for the elements of reform we seek to implement.
• Conduct analyses to assess the impacts of various policy options and EPA programs associated with chemicals testing, assessment and management.
• Assist in written and oral communications related to EDF reports, comments on policy proposals and Congressional testimony.
• Work with colleagues from other environmental organizations and academic institutions to apply scientific knowledge to environmental health solutions.
• Provide advice and support as needed to other EDF teams on policies or their efforts relating to environmental health.
Qualifications:
The minimum qualifications for this position are:
• Graduate degree, preferably at the doctoral level, in chemistry, toxicology, epidemiology, risk assessment, or similar environmental health field.
• Policy experience at state, federal or international level and knowledge of environmental laws and policies highly desired.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
