Chemical Engineering Intern – Muscatine, Iowa – 002F4 Description   The Manufacturing organization at Monsanto has several exciting internship opportunities available for 2011.  As an engineering intern you will apply engineering and safety principles in a manufacturing environment with responsibilities consisting of the application of engineering knowledge to projects within the facility. These projects, which will be performed under the guidance and assistance of experienced engineers, have the effect of reducing waste, increasing efficiencies, streamlining process, troubleshooting issues, identifying cost savings and/or updating procedures.  Qualifications   Qualifications:   ·         Students must be currently enrolled in college and have completed their sophomore year of an undergraduate degree program in Chemical Engineering. Key Responsibilities

• Win new customers by calling on opportunities generated from specific marketing campaigns and the in house database
• Cold calling and prospecting to potential customers
• Accurately manage and update in-house database information
• Expand in house database
• Support the sales team and ensure that accurate and complete information is passed to the appropriate sales person on time
• Conduct both specific and general awareness campaigns to promote chemistry products within targeted markets
• Develop and maintain detailed knowledge of both the company and competitor products and services

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
• Science or engineering qualification A level or above (ideally in chemistry related area)
• Basic knowledge of sales processes
• Basic experience in customer database management
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel

The department Measurement & Performance Control (MPC) develops, delivers, integrates and qualifies new functions and application packages in the area of wafer metrology (critical dimensions, overlay and focus) and wafer fab applications (performance control applications). All development activities need to be conducted in with the constraints of specification, time and budget as demanded by market conditions. 

Within MPC, the group YieldStar applications covers the area of physics and mathematics development required to extract relevant metrics with required performance characteristics from the raw acquisitions, as well as the design, integration and test of new measurement functions enabling the necessary applications on and meeting the usability criteria of the metrology tool. In addition the group is also responsible for the area of reticle marker design, enabling measurement of specific lithographic parameters by means of YieldStar.

Within MPC, the group On Product Overlay covers the area of physics and mathematics development to achieve the required overlay performance on customer product modules. Main activities in this position are data analysis of customer production data sets and ASML test experiments. Search for statistical correlations among tool- and process settings and the development of dedicated analysis tooling are key in this work. The results will be implemented in overlay improvement packages on methods for wafer alignment and litho tool performance.

The engineer reports to the group leader of the On-Product overlay group in the Measurement and Performance Control department and is operational in multidisciplinary projects.

• Specify, test, and analyze overlay in customer conditions and ASML tests and report on the results;
• Invent new or improve calibrations, tests and applications to improve overlay performance;
• Use statistical methods to find correlations and to show the improvements;
• Support the customers and internal projects in solving overly issues;
• Contribute to ASML’s overlay and application roadmap.
