An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Health, Safety and Environmental Advisor to join a leading Global Biotechnology business. Based at our clients Berkshire Research and Development site, this role will be primarily responsible for providing site based Health and Safety guidance and support.

The role:

With 550 employees across 3 sites in Berkshire, this role will be focused on day to day Health and Safety and providing guidance and support to the activities being carried out on site. This will include responsibility for operation of the HS&E systems on the Slough site following the overall HS&E policies and strategies, providing HS&E guidance and support. Be the key person liaison to the company Employee Safety Representatives, supporting their tasks and training needs. Delivery of in-house training courses and workshops to compliment company procedures and policies. Actively supporting/ coordinating local management meetings – disseminating HS&E performance. Supporting the risk management system i.e. facilitating risk assessors and/or undertaking risk assessments personally and reviewing control measures in place.

You will lead the Radiation Safety Management System and support the life-safety systems, daily checks on compliance and overall management. Coordinating the company monitoring systems (Audit, Safety Observations and Accident reports) to ensure trends are identified and appropriate actions can be implemented. Provide Health and Safety advice across Laboratories, Chemical and Radiation hazards. Management of Biosafety risks utilising Risk Management techniques.

The Person:

To be considered for this role you should be and experienced Health and Safety professional with a background in the Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology or Chemicals industries. With experience of managing risks across Laboratories and Research & Development facilities. You will ideally hold a NEBOSH diploma with CMIOSH status, although consideration will be given to candidates who are currently studying towards a diploma.

You should also have the ability to communicate and influence at all levels of business.
