Failing college, with 54 credit hours and 2.5 GPA… Biochemistry major. What should I do…?

Should I switch to Business? Or keep going with Biochemistry and see how it works out in the end? And apply for Business school is Med school turns me down?

With a 2.5, it’s a ‘WHEN med school turns you down’, not ‘if’. If you’re more interested in business and think you can do better in that field, then switch. If you’re just grasping for something that will get you a job after college and you’re not actually interested in business, maybe take a year off to figure out what you want to do with your life.

it depends how long you have been in college. 54 credits for my school would have you places as a sophmore. if it is your second year of college that is not bad at all. the best thing to do is go to summer school and talk to your professors. they are usually very willing to help, and if they arent, well thats what teacher evaluations are for lol! switching your major is really up to you. dont do it just because it is the easier route, of you need to change do it because you want to.

I’d say to just try to stick with the biochem major and get your degree and do business after, just because you’ve already done a lot of credits for biochem. A 2.5 gpa isn’t going to get you into Med school anyway. I would just try your hardest not to fail and get your MBA after you finish your undergrad degree in biochem. If you do fail out of the major, then go into business.

Majors like biochem can be difficult if you attend a competitive college and did not get a strong math/science background in high school. I would either switch majors and complete the pre-med courses through a postbac program or find something else that interests you…

look at how many of those credits are major classes if you are flunking the classes for your major thats bad= change, but if youre doing well in them and flunking the other classes stay, because many applications ask for your major GPA in which you calculate your GPA for your major, which is in most cases higher than your overall GPA, ask your advisor

im a chem major, biochem minor with a 3.7 GPA
